05 Sep, 2013

Shaw Industries Group Inc. recently announced it will build a new facility in Bartow County to manufacture modular carpet tiles. The company will make an $85 million investment in the project, creating 500 new jobs. The carpet industry is making a steady comeback in northern Georgia.

Shaw Industries has become the largest producer of carpet tile in North America. The company has expanded its facility in Cartersville to the maximum capacity; the new Adairsville plant will allow for continued long-term growth. The company will also open a new carpet tile plant in China to serve the Asia market. Shaw Industries is Bartow County’s largest employer, with six facilities in the county. The company employs 15,000 people throughout the state of Georgia.

With the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding by the Development Authority of Bartow County, Shaw’s next steps will include continued collaboration with the city, county and state as it proceeds with standard site related due diligence, permitting and other contractual processes. The company will also receive customized workforce training through the Georgia Quick Start program. For complete details, visit the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
