Ohio Pack LLC Announces $25.4 Million Manufacturing Facility

01 Jun, 2017

Ohio Pack LLC, a manufacturer of the raw material used in flexible packaging for the food industry, will build a new manufacturing facility in Heath, Ohio, investing nearly $25.4 million and adding 66 jobs over five years.

The company will build a 135,000-square-foot facility on a 20-acre property located in the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority’s Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center. The new facility will manufacture blown plastic film, one of the raw materials used in flexible packaging manufacturing. Ohio Pack will invest $13 million toward building costs and nearly $12.4 million toward machinery and equipment. Hiring for the manufacturing positions will begin in 2018.

“The Columbus Region’s proximity to existing food and beverage manufacturing facilities, the availability of real estate suitable to our needs and the support of state and local partners all contributed to our decision to open a facility in Heath,” says Mark Kasberg, director of Ohio Pack.

“Ohio Pack’s decision to locate at the Port Authority’s Central Ohio Aerospace Center in Heath brings another rail-served manufacturer to our community,” adds Mark D. Johns, Mayor of Heath. “Licking County’s large pool of manufacturing workers is well-prepared to bring their skills to the new positions offered by Ohio Pack.”

The Columbus Region is home to 170 food and beverage manufacturing facilities that generate $17.7 billion in economic output annually. With more than 85,000 manufacturing workers and more than 100 manufacturing-related education and training programs, the Region offers manufacturers a talented, and growing, workforce.
