Georgia’s Belfast Commerce Centre Welcomes Caesarstone
21 Nov, 2013
Caesarstone Sdot-Yam Ltd. (NASDAQ:CSTE), a global leader in the rapidly expanding quartz countertop market, will build its first U.S. manufacturing facility at the new 1,100-acre Belfast Commerce Centre, a CSX Select Site, located in Bryan County, Ga. The property is managed by TerraPointe Services, a real estate subsidiary of Rayonier.
Israel-based Caesarstone, which will invest $100 million in its new 265,000-square-foot facility, conducted months of intensive research across the eastern United States to find the ideal location for its new facility. Americans are widely embracing quartz over its long-held rival, granite, and demand for Caesarstone surfaces is rapidly increasing. In 2012, the U.S. was Caesarstone’s fastest-growing market with sales in the region expanding 45 percent.
“We’re pleased that Caesarstone quickly recognized all that Belfast Commerce Centre has to offer,” says Chris Corr, president, TerraPointe Services. “As the largest rail-served site in the Port of Savannah market, Belfast features 8,800 feet of onsite rail, two miles of I-95 frontage, and direct rail access to the port via CSX and the Riceboro Southern Railway. As a certified ‘development ready’ site with all the necessary permits in place and infrastructure and utilities underway, manufacturers can fast-track projects with construction under way in as little as 60 days.”
“Through our Select Site program, we review and certify the highest quality manufacturing development sites along the CSX network,” says Clark Robertson, CSX assistant vice president, regional development. “The designation ensures manufacturers that standard land use issues have been addressed, providing development certainty and increased speed to market. Belfast Commerce Centre met the rigorous criteria for our certification, and its selection by Caesarstone validates the high standards that this designation represents.”
The Belfast Commerce Centre is approved for 10.5 million feet of industrial, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, office and commercial property.
