U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $600,000 to Boost Entrepreneurial Development in Texas
04 Oct, 2017
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $600,000 grant to the Dallas Entrepreneur Center of Dallas, Texas, to provide technical assistance to businesses in South Dallas through the creation of three new entrepreneurial centers. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 250 jobs and spur $1.25 million in private investment.
“We commend the Dallas Entrepreneur Center on their strategy to support local entrepreneurs as they scale their businesses,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs, Dennis Alvord. “This project will help small businesses expand to boost the South Dallas economy.”
The project will provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses in South Dallas by establishing three new entrepreneurial centers in distressed areas of the city. The new centers will help entrepreneurs, startup companies and small businesses grow and expand. The project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the North Central Texas Council of Governments to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development road map to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
