FUND ESTABLISHED FOR OAK HILL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM IN CONNECTICUT

04 Apr, 2019

Assistive technology and adaptive equipment at Oak Hill will become more available to people with disabilities thanks to a newly-formed fund named in honor of a long-time executive and public servant, Elliot Ginsberg.

Last October a fund was established, with the help of Congressman John B. Larson in recognition of Elliot Ginsberg’s retirement from a long and distinguished career. Ginsberg, formerly President and CEO of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), recently retired after 11 years leading the non-profit organization. He is now Chairman of the CCAT Board of Directors.

The fund will be called the Elliot Ginsberg Technology Fund at the New England Assistive Technology Center (NEAT) at Oak Hill. Ginsberg served on the Oak Hill board for eight years and played a large role in the start of NEAT, which offers access to resources that support independent living.

“We at Oak Hill are incredibly grateful for the creation of this fund that celebrates Elliot’s passion for technology, as well as the commitment from the entire Ginsberg family to public service and helping those in need,” said Barry Simon, President and CEO of Oak Hill. “This fund is a wonderful way to honor Elliot’s legacy of service and give back to others in our community.”

“I am deeply thankful and honored by this recognition and the commitment of needed funding to enhance the lives of people with disabilities,” Ginsberg said.

Ginsberg served as Larson’s chief of staff before leading CCAT. He was previously an instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, family support magistrate for the Superior Court of Connecticut and commissioner of the state Department of Human Resources.

“Those of us who had the honor of working with Elliot through the years knows that he dedicated his career to improving the quality of life of everyone but particularly those people who needed assistance,” said Larson. “I can’t think of a more fitting tribute to my colleague and friend.”
