ERC LAUNCHES NEW LIVE-WORK-PLAY DEVELOPMENT AT CHAFFEE CROSSING
03 Jul, 2018
FORT SMITH, Arkansas. ERC Holdings of Fort Smith, Arkansas, launched construction of an exciting new live-work-play neighborhood today unlike any other in Chaffee Crossing or the city of Fort Smith: The HUB at Providence.
The new $11 million mixed-use development is the first of two the leading edge developer plans to build in what has become Arkansas’ premiere economic development project. Surrounded by a new medical school, a corporate headquarters and hundreds of homes, duplexes and apartments, The HUB will bring highly desirable commercial services with live-above retail within minutes of those front doors.
Situated along Wells Lake Road at 9101 R.A. Young Jr. Drive, The HUB at Providence will establish a new standard of living in the western Arkansas River Valley area. Millennials, Baby Boomers and empty nesters alike are seeking new and innovated living spaces in close proximity to work and basic necessities. The HUB will be a unique and exciting district that meets these demands with functional, yet creatively arranged spaces:
- 23 Townhouses (1593 – 2634 sq. ft.)
- 20 Apartments (530 – 701 sq. ft.)
- 4,400 sq. ft. of commercial space in two buildings for that can be divided as needed for a total of 8,800 sq. ft. of commercial space
- 2,500 sq. ft. of restaurant space
Connectivity is a huge element of the design concept, from the technology incorporated into the architecture down to the physical location. Tenants and patrons will be able to cycle, run or walk on the Fort Smith Master Trail System to from their front doors to other destinations in Chaffee Crossing and around the city. Golf, fishing, multi-use and mountain bike trails, nature and historical attractions, soccer, softball, Frisbee golf, tennis, and a water park are literally minutes away. The HUB is in the Fort Smith Public School District and down the street from a future FSPS site.
Owner Rod Coleman and his staff conducted research around the country for inspiration to bring this project to the highest level of modern living spaces. Coleman says the company’s desire to “Live Inspired” and “Thrive” and be the very best we can” was the driving force behind the design of The HUB. “We didn’t want to do what has been done before all over this city,” he said. “We wanted to make a statement that living in Fort Smith, Arkansas, can be just as vibrant, modern and connected as in any other city in the United States. This is a fantastic place to live and flourish! Our living and working environments should express that energy and reflect the changing culture around us at Chaffee Crossing.” Coleman doesn’t stop there. He continues with an eye to the future, “Look, we are just getting started. This is a sneak-peek into our vision to create innovative living spaces that are in high demand because they reflect the how and where people want to live.”
Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority executive director Ivy Owen says ERC, “Is the type of developer we look for. They aren’t satisfied with more of the same. They want to break the mold and create something new and exciting that matches up with the incredible opportunities that exist at Chaffee Crossing. What developers like ERC are doing is creating a whole new way of life in Western Arkansas. One that will be appreciated for generations to come.”
